The Use of Solar Energy in Brazilian Residences

Abstract

The present article evaluates the economic viability of the application of solar energy for electric power generation via the use of photovoltaic systems in a residential consumption unit in the city of Curitiba, State of Paraná, Brazil.
Since the energy from the sun is abundant, clean and renewable and has the potential to compete in productivity and profitability, it is of great interest to evaluate the applicability of these systems in homes and not only in industrial parks. A residence with the determined consumption profile was chosen to carry out the case study through simulations with the HomerPro software. After analyzing the data, the photovoltaic potential of the State of
Paraná was estimated, in order to evaluate the use of photovoltaic generation in the State energy matrix.
